The Evidence Library

The research informing McLeod Method™.

McLeod Method™ is designed to evolve alongside the evidence.

The scientific literature surrounding Lipoedema continues to develop, with growing research into its biology, diagnosis, symptom burden and conservative and surgical management.

The Evidence Library brings together research relevant to the principles underpinning McLeod Method™, including:

• Lipoedema biology and tissue characteristics
• connective tissue and the extracellular matrix
• lymphatic function and fluid management
• microcirculation and inflammation
• compression therapy
• movement and exercise
• conservative physical therapies
• photobiomodulation
• ultrasound and electrophysical modalities
• outcome measurement and quality of life

Not every study included within this library investigates McLeod Method™ itself.

Some research relates directly to Lipoedema. Other studies investigate physiological mechanisms, therapeutic technologies or related conditions that may help inform the rationale behind individual components of the framework.

That distinction matters.

Research is included to provide transparency around why particular principles are being explored — not to imply evidence that does not yet exist.

The international evidence base for Lipoedema management remains incomplete, and researchers continue to call for stronger clinical trials, standardised outcome reporting and further investigation into conservative therapies.

McLeod Method™ will continue to review and incorporate relevant research as the scientific understanding of Lipoedema evolves.

Evidence should not simply support the framework. It should be allowed to challenge and change it.
