Maintain the Drain™

What happens between treatments matters.

McLeod Method™ extends beyond the treatment room.

Lipoedema is a chronic condition, and contemporary guidance increasingly emphasises individualised conservative care, movement, compression, education and active self-management as important components of ongoing support.

This principle forms the foundation of Maintain the Drain™.

Rather than viewing an in-clinic treatment as an isolated event, clients are encouraged to continue supporting their bodies through practical, sustainable strategies appropriate to their individual needs.

These may include:

• regular, comfortable movement
• individually appropriate compression
• adequate hydration
• balanced nutrition
• gentle self-care and tissue-support practices
• attention to changes in pain, heaviness, swelling, mobility and tissue sensitivity
• ongoing clinical or medical support where appropriate

The objective is not perfection.

It is consistency.

Movement and exercise should be appropriate to the individual and progressed according to tolerance. Compression should similarly be selected according to presentation, comfort and clinical considerations rather than assuming that greater pressure is always better. Current guidance specifically supports individualisation of both.

Maintain the Drain™ therefore represents the continuation phase of McLeod Method™ — empowering the individual to participate actively in the management of their own tissue health and symptoms.

The treatment session has an endpoint. Support for the body does not.
