Practitioner Training & Curriculum
Education designed to create thinking practitioners.
McLeod Method™ Practitioner Certification goes beyond learning a treatment sequence.
The program is designed to help practitioners understand the reasoning behind the Method — from Lipoedema and tissue presentation through to treatment planning, safety, modality selection, ongoing support and clinical decision-making.
The objective is simple:
Know what you are doing. Understand why you are doing it. And recognise when you shouldn't.
A structured learning pathway
The Practitioner Certification is delivered across 10 structured modules, progressing from foundational knowledge through to practical application and assessment.
Throughout the program, practitioners explore the key areas underpinning McLeod Method™, including:
Understanding Lipoedema
Build foundational knowledge of Lipoedema, common presentations and the complexities that can influence treatment.
Lymphatic & Tissue Foundations
Explore the lymphatic system, tissue health and the physiological concepts relevant to the McLeod Method™ framework.
Assessment & Clinical Observation
Develop a more considered approach to observing tissue presentation, client history, individual tolerance and treatment suitability.
The McLeod Method™ Framework
Understand the principles of:
PREPARE → MOBILISE → SUPPORT → COMPRESS → MAINTAIN
and how these principles inform the structure of the Method.
Modalities & Treatment Reasoning
Explore the modalities incorporated within McLeod Method™, their intended roles within the framework and the reasoning behind their use.
Treatment Sequencing & Application
Learn how the individual components of McLeod Method™ are brought together within the proprietary practitioner protocol.
Safety, Contraindications & Referral
Understand treatment precautions, contraindications, modification considerations and circumstances in which treatment should not proceed or further professional assessment may be appropriate.
Compression, Movement & At-Home Support
Learn how ongoing support extends beyond the treatment room and how client education can form part of responsible conservative care.
Evidence-Informed Practice
Examine the research informing McLeod Method™ and learn to distinguish between established evidence, emerging evidence, related research, physiological reasoning and clinical hypothesis.
Practical Application & Case Study
Bring the learning together through practical demonstration, case-based application and final assessment.
Certification is earned
Completion of course content alone does not automatically result in certification.
The McLeod Method™ Practitioner pathway includes knowledge assessment, practical demonstration and case-study requirements designed to demonstrate understanding and appropriate application of the Method.
Final certification is awarded following successful completion and review of the required components.
Your scope still matters
McLeod Method™ Practitioner Certification provides proprietary education in the McLeod Method™ framework.
It does not replace foundational professional training, provide medical registration or authorise practitioners to diagnose Lipoedema or work outside their existing legal or professional scope of practice.
Practitioners remain responsible for understanding and complying with the requirements relevant to their profession, services and location.
Education that continues to evolve
McLeod Method™ is designed to evolve alongside the evidence.
As new research emerges, our understanding develops.
As our understanding develops, practitioner education should develop with it.
Certification is not the end of learning.
It is the beginning of practising the Method with greater understanding.
