Our Research

Curiosity started the Method. Evidence will help shape where it goes next.

McLeod Method™ began through clinical observation.

Repeatedly seeing women with complex tissue presentations raised questions about how different forms of physical support might be brought together more thoughtfully — and whether a structured, multimodal approach could provide meaningful support for women with Lipoedema.

Those observations became the beginning of McLeod Method™.

But clinical observation is not the same as scientific proof.

That distinction matters to us.

From observation to investigation

The McLeod Method™ framework has been refined through hands-on clinical experience, continued education, documented client observations and engagement with emerging research.

Early clinical observations have helped identify questions worth exploring — including changes relating to tissue presentation, measurements, comfort, movement and individual response.

These observations are valuable for generating hypotheses.

They are not presented as clinical trial evidence.

Building an evidence-informed framework

Every component of McLeod Method™ is considered according to the strength and relevance of the evidence available.

We distinguish between:

Direct Lipoedema research
Evidence specifically investigating people with Lipoedema.

Related clinical evidence
Research from areas such as lymphatic care, rehabilitation and tissue-focused therapies that may help inform our reasoning but cannot automatically be applied to Lipoedema.

Physiological rationale
Established biological or physical principles that may provide a reasonable basis for further investigation.

Clinical observation
Patterns observed through practice that can help generate questions but require appropriate research before conclusions can be drawn.

Peer review and professional dialogue

McLeod Method™ is being developed with an emphasis on professional scrutiny rather than working in isolation.

The framework and its supporting rationale have been shared with independent health professionals for review and feedback.

This process is intended to challenge assumptions, identify areas requiring clarification and strengthen the quality and safety of the framework as it continues to develop.

The next chapter

Our longer-term goal is to move beyond clinical observation into increasingly structured investigation.

Future research questions may examine individual components of the framework, treatment sequencing, tolerability and measurable outcomes associated with the complete McLeod Method™ approach.

Where findings do not support an assumption, the Method should change.

Where evidence develops, the education should develop with it.

And where we simply don't know yet, we will say so.

A commitment to responsible innovation

McLeod Method™ does not claim that its complete proprietary protocol has been independently clinically validated.

Our ambition is not to manufacture certainty where it doesn't yet exist.

It is to ask better questions.

To document carefully.

To engage with research.

To invite scrutiny.

And ultimately, to contribute responsibly to a field in which women deserve considerably more attention.

Observe. Question. Investigate. Learn. Evolve.

That is how McLeod Method™ intends to move forward.
